Restoration and Repair

Restoration and Repair

If you’ve ever owned a house, you know that it’s kind of a pain. There are always repairs to be done – the roof leaks, the dryer quits on you, the dog chews up the linoleum floor… (yah, that really happened!). At OCUUC, we have a wonderful team of people who repair that which is broken. Led by Jennifer Thomas of the Buildings and Grounds Committee, they do everything from fixing gas leaks, plumbing issues, painting the building, and making sure the doors shut accurately. What I love about our Committee is that they do things right. No skimping! We don’t want to have to do the repair again a second time or have something fall apart just when we need it. Good foundations and repairs make for strong and long-lasting buildings!

And isn’t that true for relationships? Having good foundations (trust, honesty, love) and repairs (listening, apologizing, learning from mistakes), makes for strong and long-lasting relationships.

So next time you are at church, you might give a hug or a thank you to those on the Buildings and Grounds Committee and those that have led it in the past: Jennifer Thomas (Chair), Debra Quam (past chair), Audrey Prosser (past chair), Nancy Loughrey (past chair), Bob Loeschen, and Craig Spery. They do amazing work and a hug and a thank you go a long way to building a strong and long-lasting community!

With love,
Rev. Sian
