January Notes

Welcome to the New Year! 2015 is shaping up to be an interesting one. And by “interesting,” I mean I have no idea what is in store. The field is wide open! You can make of this year what you want of it. It’s also that time of resolutions – to make a positive change in your life. Yet, as the popular theory goes, most people give up on their resolutions before the month is out.

So here’s a thought. How about no hard core resolutions this year? Instead, we be open to what comes this year? Instead of trying to make everything happen all at once, why not be open and see where life leads you? This makes me very, very nervous. I’m a very goal oriented person. I like to know where I’m going and all the motivational speakers out there will tell you to have goals. But what if our goal was to simply “love the hell out of the world?” That being open to new people, new ideas, new ways of doing things was the resolution? Because I think that’s how it’s going to happen.

That’s my goal this year: to be open to what life has in store for m; to see where life leads us and this church. I think we are in for a bunch of surprises. And hopefully a lot of fun! Let’s enjoy 2015!
