Social Justice

Social Justice

There are many ways the OCUUC community feels called to action, and we call these activities Social Justice. Some of the projects are seasonal and support local organizations, such as the AIDS Walk, Second Harvest Food Bank, and PFLAG. Here are a few projects we support year-round:

Welcoming Congregation

OCUUC is proud to be a Welcoming Congregation, publicly and intentionally welcoming bisexual, gay, lesbian, and/or transgender people as members, friends, and guests. Welcoming Congregations are formally recognized and accredited by the UUA.

Side With Love

OCUUC is proud to participate in Side with Love activities.

Interfaith

OCUUC is also an active member of the Newport-Mesa-Irvine Interfaith Council and supports the group’s mission “to provide religious, moral and ethical leadership by bring together religious communities for the common good.”

Progressive Interfaith Alliance

OCUUC is also an active member of the Progressive Interfaith Alliance of Orange County (PIA-OC), whose mission is to proclaim the progressive values of welcome, equality, inclusion, acceptance, and love and for the implementation of each in our community.

Seeking truth, building just communities, and caring for one another.
