Artists UUnite is back! The group is now meeting on the fourth Saturday of each month from 10 to noon in the Victoria Room. The first meeting of 2024 will be on Saturday, April 27th.
All OCUUC members and friends are invited to become a part of this group regardless of expertise. You can bring your own materials or use the materials provided.
Artists UUnite is a relatively new OCUUC small group, launched in October 2019. Prior to the onset of COVID and the closing of the church campus, our group of approximately 10 artists met each month for creative work sessions in Suite 4, now the home of our Ukrainian guests and soon to be the site of the new sanctuary.
During the monthly sessions, painters, quilters, sketchers, and other creative types work on individual projects-in-progress, and share news about recent completed projects, artist demos, workshops, exhibitions, newly acquired art materials or techniques and art books.
During quarantine, individual members created a total of 100 cards with original art for administrator Sarah Jones to use in outreach to congregants in lieu of cards being signed at the caring table in the courtyard when in-person church services were able to be held on Sundays.
Most recently members of our group have curated several art exhibitions in the newly decorated RE/administration lobby, featuring art created by OCUUC members and friends.
Our next exhibition--"The Art of Travel"--is now on display in the lobby featuring photos and paintings of travel near or far over the past few years. It will remain in place throughout the summer and fall.
