Welcome to OCUUC's newest blog! This past Sunday, February 21st, members attending the Special Congregational Meeting after the service voted almost unanimously to move forward with the proposed new sanctuary. Now that we're on our way, we will be using this blog as one of our communications tools to provide you weekly updates on what is happening.
Some weeks will be less action-packed than others as we hold meetings with our architect and other parties. But some will be full of exciting milestones, which we'll do our best to document with photos and video. Regardless, we think you'll agree that these are exciting times at OCUUC so we invite you to come along for the ride!
This week on Wednesday, February 24th, we held the first "official" meeting of our sanctuary planning & construction PUG subgroup with our lead architect, David Keitel, of domusstudio architecture of San Diego. Joining us on the Zoom call today from domus was also architect Amanda Rooney.
Representing OCUUC on the subgroup team are Nancy Loughrey, Bob Loeschen, Barbara Morihiro, Audrey Prosser, Debra Quam (ex officio) and myself, Craig Spery. I will be serving as the primary liaison with the outside architect-construction professional team for the project, drawing upon my expertise in construction and building over the past 20+ years in Southern California and Massachusetts.
Our first order of business on Wednesday was to review a preliminary project (as of 2/24/21) schedule presented to the team by domus. Lots of good discussion occurred and we’re off and running with the first steps. We've included the schedule below for you to see.
If you have questions or comments, please reach me at craigspery@aol.com or (562) 858-3214. See you next week.
Regards,
Craig
