From Your Board…
Our church calendar tells us that the coming of March means it is time for the Pledge Drive. This is a crucial time each year when it’s essential that each of our Members – and even those who attend as Friends – think about their finances and make a commitment to OCUUC for the 2026-27 fiscal year.
Here are some FAQs from our VP of Finance, Jamie Pendarvis:
What Is the Pledge Drive?
The Pledge Drive is how OCUUC funds its life together. Our congregation depends on the financial support of Members and Friends to sustain our programs, pay our staff, and care for our new sanctuary, buildings, and grounds. This annual campaign is our primary source of income and allows us to plan responsibly for the year ahead.
During the Pledge Drive, people make a commitment, a pledge, to give a specific amount over the coming year. These pledges help us budget thoughtfully and ensure that OCUUC remains strong, vibrant, and able to carry out our shared mission. Your generosity truly makes our work possible.
Who Should Pledge?
All members and friends of OCUUC are encouraged to participate. Nearly everyone who is regularly involved in the life of the congregation chooses to make a pledge. If OCUUC has been a place of inspiration, support, learning, or community for you, we invite you to consider pledging as a way of sustaining what we share.
Why Pledge If I Already Give to the Weekly Offering?
Weekly offerings, whether given in person or online, are deeply appreciated, but they don't fully cover our expenses. In addition, part of our mission includes Plate Sharing, which means half of each Sunday's collection is donated to a community cause that shares our values. Making a pledge provides the steady, reliable support OCUUC needs to meet its ongoing commitments, create a realistic budget for the coming year and plan for the future.
When will our Pledge Drive begin?
Our pledge drive will get underway on March 8. You’ll be hearing more about the Pledge Drive in the coming month.
