Once again, a busy time at OCUUC. We are apporoaching the end of our fiscal year. The pledge drive is mostly done, although we are still waiting to hear from some members. The Pacific Regional and deBenneville meetings are behind us, and preparations for General Assembly are under way. Please see the information on Article 2 in the REACH.
Those things happen every year. In addition, we have two staff members who will be leaving us – Karen Magoon Pearson as our Director of Religious Education and Julian Berger as our Collaborative Pianist. We are sad they will not be serving us as staff members. Karen and her family will definitely remain as part of the congregation. We thank them each for all they have done for OCUUC. Search teams are forming.
In addition to these changes, the sanctuary is still inching along. There is real progress! I have no trust in promised deadlines at this point and don’t want to jinx anything, but please pay attention in the coming weeks. We may finally be getting close. At this point, the plans are finalized and we are waiting for an updated bid from our contractor. We are telling our wonderful Ukrainian guests that their move out date is by June 15th.
This is a lot of change. We will be challenged to keep up with all that is happening. It will be wonderful. It will be anxious. This is a time to live our values and work together to keep our community working together. Communication will be key. The Board will do its best to keep you all informed, and please let us know if you have questions or concerns.
We will get there! We are traveling a path together in community.
