We've had a change in one of our leadership positions in the past month which I wanted you to be aware of; Jennifer T. needed to step down as Building & Grounds Chair and Carol R. stepped up to fill the role. So please thank Jennifer for all she did during her term; OCUUC kept her VERY busy. And, welcome Carol; she's already jumped in with both feet and working to accomplish many tasks on our campus.
Speaking of which… keep in mind that our campus is larger than just the area used by OCUUC. We have the permanent tenants of the Orange County Friends Meeting (Quakers) and the First Church of Christ, Scientist in our adjacent building. Additionally, the Apostolic Church uses Daniels Hall on Fridays and Sundays, as well as the Resurrection Beach Metropolitan Community Church in the Victoria Room on Sunday evenings. So there are five churches which use our space – and why we refer to ourselves as a Multi-Faith Center.
And of course, we have OCUUC groups that utilize our space during the month, but we also rent to a coin club, a bridge club, a quilting group, Chuck Jones Center for Creativity, and an Al-Anon chapter. We've recently reached out to offer support to the wider community leading to the LGBTQ Center hosting a social event in Daniels Hall, as well as a music recital which will occur in February.
So all this keeps Carol and our Building & Grounds Committee busy – making sure all our space remains clean, attractive and well maintained. Be sure to thank them!
