Orange Coast Unitarian Universalist Church is a “Welcoming Congregation”. We publicly and intentionally welcome those in the Orange County community who identify as gay.
This means the church and its members are open and affirming to the gay community. Our organization has gone through the certification process which asks congregant to discern deeply about what it means to support, affirm and celebrate the LGBTQ community.
As a “Welcoming Congregation” and gay friendly church, our goal is to reduce prejudice by increasing understanding and acceptance among people of different sexual orientations.
Some of the training our members have gone through include:
- How Homophobia Hurts Heterosexuals
- Connections to Other Forms of Oppression
- Gender Socialization and Homophobia
- Biblical Perspectives on Homosexuality
At OCUUC, we celebrate the lives of all people and welcomes same-sex couples, recognizing their committed relationships, and equally affirms displays of caring and affections without regard to sexual orientation.
