Ten Years at OCUUC

Ten Years at OCUUC

I can’t believe it: I’m entering my 10th year with OCUUC! How cool is that!? For those of you who have been a part of the church for much longer, you might think that’s not that long. But for me, it’s quite the milestone. I grew up moving almost every year or so. The longest I had ever lived in one place until age 16 was 1.5 years. Since then, as an adult, the most I’ve been at any job was 8 years (and moved 4 times when employed!). So 10 years for me is a huge deal! And I love it! Getting to know you all, being with you during difficult times and joyful times. This is a place I belong.

And I knew it the moment I came here. I knew it the moment I met the Search Committee. It was a feeling deep in my gut. I knew it when I first stepped on the property for the first time. I’ve always had these gut feelings and I’ve always wondered what that feeling was called and now I know: it’s be-longing. It’s knowing that you are not just welcome, but in the right place, a connection to your soul. May you all know that feeling – the feeling of belonging.

With love,
Rev. Sian
