We are in the middle of making history right now. OK, so we are always in the middle of making history, but it just feels so “present” to me right now (no pun intended). It feels that way because I have no idea what the future holds, which is a very unsettling feeling. Everything seems up in the air: what does the future hold for our children when it comes to the environment? After the pandemic, what is the future of school? Of business? Of church? How will “Zoom” and other forms of video communication change the way we interact with one another? Is it good or bad? Both? How do we navigate all the diversity this beautiful country holds? What does the rise of fascism, nationalism around the world mean for democracy?
Gah! It’s enough to make you want to pull out your hair! And we can let it stress us out if we aren’t careful. Or we can react differently. We can get creative – we can experiment, try new things, open our mind to possibilities instead of trying to go back to the “good ol’ days.” It’s risky. It’s a bit scary, even. But it’s also exciting! There is one thing I know for sure: I’m glad you are all in this with me! So let’s go make history!
With love,
Rev. Sian
