At Orange Coast UU, we believe belonging doesn't happen by accident. It's practiced and sustained by everyone. But we also need to have clear pathways for people to integrate into the life of the congregation. That's why we've created the Membership Executive Team, or MET, a group of staff and lay leaders working together to make sure that every person who walks through our doors, whether for the first time or the fiftieth, has a clear and warm pathway into our community.
MET is the team that looks at the whole journey from a curious stranger, to member/friend, to integration. We ask the questions that matter. Where do people feel seen? Where do they slip through the cracks? How do we make sure no one disappears unnoticed? In a time of widespread loneliness and a deep hunger for meaning beyond dogma, we take seriously our calling to be a community where authenticity and care are the first things you encounter.
We want everyone (long term members and new people) to feel like they belong, that they are an integral part of this community! If you have any questions or ideas, please contact the team at MET @ ocuuc.org or talk to one of them: Melanie M., Meg W., Danielle (our DRE), Sarah (our Administrator) and myself.
In faith and love,
Rev. Sian
