Dreaming Big Dreams

Dreaming Big Dreams

What will you do with your one wild and precious life? ~ Mary Oliver

Our congregation is in the middle of dreaming big dreams! What will we do with this one wild and precious church? What a fun question to ponder. There is such wonderful energy on Sunday mornings – our “pews” are packed with so many new people coming to join us. It’s very exciting and we have the wonderful problem of trying to figure out how to accommodate this growth.

So with all this interest in adding more worship space, it may seem ironic that this month our worship theme is “letting go.” “Letting go” a good Buddhist phrase. Yet, for Buddhists the phrase is not so much about letting go of stuff (though that’s some of it), or about withdrawing from life (that’s definitely not it). Rather, it’s about not getting attached or trying to control outcomes. Or another way of putting it: It’s about enjoying the ride.  This month the congregation is launching its Canvass drive where we build our budget for the future year. We don’t know where we are going yet, but together we are going to sing songs, build new relationships and make a difference here in Orange County. Where will it take us? Who knows! Let’s enjoy the ride!

In loving faith,
Rev. Sian
