Our Sanctuary Construction Committee held our regularly scheduled progress meeting with our architects from domusstudio on July 1st. We reviewed and commented on the new project renderings that the architects have prepared to reflect the newest refinements of the design. We look forward to sharing these revised plans with you in the near future starting on Saturday, July 17th at the Isa Graves sculpture wine & cheese reception in the courtyard from 4 to 7 p.m. and in the courtyard during coffee hour throughout the summer.
Also this week the architects provided us an update from the project's civil engineer regarding the required topographical map. The engineer recently completed the map as a requirement of the application process for the City of Costa Mesa. We also discussed a feasibility study that will provide us input about the cost of incorporating solar into the project design. Domusstudio will confer with our builder on costs and provide us information at our next meeting. Since solar was not included in our original cost estimate, we will be seeking additional funding to support this proposed feature.
Domusstudio has initiated the initial plan review with the City of Costa Mesa to ensure the existing Conditional Use Permit (CUP) received for the prior sanctuary project is still in effect as anticipated. Our next team meeting is set for July 22nd.
Craig Spery is the chair of the sanctuary planning and construction committee, a subgroup of the Property Use Group (PUG).
