RE Reflections

Hello OCUUC Community~

Our OCUUC summer program begins in July, and I will complete my 5th year as your Director this summer of 2015. The time truly has flown by. What a gift to see your children grow up in our UU faith at OCUUC!

We have an awesome group of 6-8th graders coming up next year, and my dream for them is to have a Jr. High class each Sunday. They are an action-oriented group, and I see them coming up with some engaging projects to work on for our community. I know if we work together we can create this classroom opportunity for them.

Our Whole Lives is also a program that needs our attention. Our kids have been attending the program at other churches, but what a wonderful thing it would be if we could provide these informative, important classes about bodies, sexuality and making good choices in the real world, here at OCUUC. If you are not familiar with our UU OWL program, please take a look at the Unitarian Universalist Association web site  here .

To do all of this, it takes people power. Religious education has traditionally been parent-run. I know how super-busy our lives are these days, but what better investment can our UU community make, than in our young people. They deserve it.

In Our Faith,

Rayna Hamre, OCUUC DRE
