On April 22, 2025, Earth Day turns 55! As Unitarian Universalists, we are committed to being good stewards to the Earth. Last fall, our congregation took part in the Climate Justice Revival which raised our awareness about how, together, we can make an impact on the health of our planet. We continue our monthly meetings which are open to everyone. We are working together to make a difference by looking at how we might recycle, compose, carpool, and how we might work with others in our community to create lasting change together.
We will be hosting our first Climate Change community movie watch in honor of Earth Day! The film we are watching is "Eating Our Way to Extinction."
"Eating Our Way to Extinction is a cinematic feature documentary, taking audiences on a journey around the world and addressing the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about. This powerful documentary sends a simple but impactful message by uncovering hard truths and addressing, on the big screen, the most pressing issue of our generation – ecological collapse."
This film asks us to consider how changes to our food choices could have a significant impact on reducing the impact of climate change.
Here is the trailer.
We will be sharing the link so you can watch this film at home, and all are invited to an online discussion group hosted by the UU Animal Ministry and Climate Justice Revival group on Tuesday, 4/22/25 at 7:00 pm.
If you would like to participate in the conversation, please email Wendy Karn at Wendy@OCUUC.org or check in with Wendy or Maureen at the Sunday worship services.
