Chicago

Chicago

It’s hard to believe, but I’m starting the second half of my first year as the intern minister at OCUUC! I think it’s gone so quickly in large part, because of how welcoming you have been. It’s a joy to be in Beloved Community with you. I have been on a short winter break from my studies at Meadville-Lombard Theological School, but just started back at the end of January.

During the second week of each semester, I have been going to Chicago for in-person classes. It’s a great opportunity to meet with a diverse group of fellow students from all over the country who are also working on becoming UU clergy. Meeting in person also allows me to spend some quality time with my professors and the other UU clergy that serve Meadville.

This semester, I am taking classes in Preaching, World Religion and Community Studies. The Community Studies course is a companion class to this internship. I’m excited to see how my fellow interns have been doing. I’m happy to have the opportunity to share the many things I’ve learned in the last few months as an intern. I’m looking forward to hearing about their work too, and ways in which they have engaged their congregations. I’m sure I’ll have some great takeaways I can share with you when I get back.

I’ll be thinking of you while I’m away and look forward to connecting with you when I get back home. I sincerely appreciate those of you who offered me their winter coats! I just sorted through my cold weather gear and I think I’m all set! Thank you for all the support you have offered in my time here at OCUUC.
