May Shenanigans

May Shenanigans

So in one month, I’ll be going on sabbatical. I’m looking forward, as I’m sure you can imagine, to days of sleeping in and rejuvenating. But I’m also looking forward to exploring ideas, arts and knowledge that I never have time for during my current busy days. In June I’ll be heading to my normal month of relaxation up in Seattle to see my family. I’ll also be taking an art class near Seattle. In July I’m going to start a 10 week course taught by Ken Wilbur, a modern theologian who has a systemic theology I’ve always been curious about. I’ll also be spending some time going to museums and exploring all those places I’ve been wanting to get to. I hope to return to you with new stories and new ideas!

I’ll also be reading two specific books that I’d like to invite you to join in reading with me. The first is the UUA’s congregational read “The Third Reconstruction: How a Moral Movement is Overcoming the Politics of Division and Fear” by The Rev. Dr. William Barber II and Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove. The second is “Rising Strong: How the Ability to Reset Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead” by Brené Brown. I’ll host book discussions when I return for those who would like to join me in reading them. I have a longer list of books that I hope to read, which were recommended by some here at the church.

I hope your summers are also full of rejuvenation, exploration and learning!
