2017/2018 CANVASS

As I write this we are not certain of receiving pledges to total the goal amount set for Fiscal Year 2017/2018 of $200,000.

We still have members who have not pledged and several who pledged last year but have not yet pledged this year. If we assume that all those who pledged last year will pledge at the same rate again, we will barely collect more than last year's total.

In spite of substantial increases by many of our pledgers this year it would appear we might not even be able to match the pledge total from last year.

This coming year we have the additional expense of filling the pulpit during Sian’s sabbatical. In the recent past, cuts in staffing hours were made when we did not reach our goal. We DO NOT want to be in that position again, however, if we don’t meet our budget needs SOMETHING will have to be cut. We will begin making our 2017/2018 budget based on pledge totals as of the first of May.

Feel free to increase your pledge, if you’ve already made one, and to increase the amount you planned to give, if among those late to send in pledges. In either case try to use the online pledging tool. It's quick and easy.

Make OCUUC a real priority in your lives by helping it grow and prepare for moving firmly into the 21st century Orange County community.

2017 FALL AUCTION

We have a great group of our members and friends planning the auction for 20 May 2017. Lots of work and camaraderie involved and lots of fun social events to bid on and win for the benefit of OCUUC.

Here's how it works: after all the hard planning work mentioned above is done and the auction takes place (I hear of Gourmet Pizza for dinner!) we bid to take in many fun events and bidding as high as possible is part of the fun since all the money bid goes directly to OCUUC.

After the auction ends, we pay what we bid, we collect and/or calendar our items, field trips, hikes, dinners, shows, etc. all of which are provided by other OCUUC members (at their expense - again for the good of OCUUC). In the words of Reverend Sian "This is how we plan our social calendar" for the next six moths.

Again, a total WIN-WIN situation.
