Rica Kaufel started her 2-year ministerial internship here at OCUUC in September 2018, and she is thrilled to be here with all of us. She is working toward her Master's of Divinity at Meadville Lombard Theological School as part of her call to ministry and expects to graduate in May 2020. Rica describes herself as a 1st and 7th Principle Unitarian Universalist, believing that our focus on the worth and dignity of every person and our respect for the interdependent web of all existence are the foundational columns that carry the beautiful arch of the other five principles.
Rica has a passion for social justice work and has been involved with different community organizations for several years now, especially in the areas of anti-racism work and restorative justice. She worked with organizations such as the California Conference for Equality and Justice, Black Lives Matter, and Showing Up for Racial Justice. Rica also works part time at the University of California, Irvine, as an Academic Coordinator in the Program for Academic English.
Rica also has an amazing daughter, Elise, and spending time with her is Rica’s most favorite thing to do.
