Karen Magoon Pearson has been the Director of Religious Education at OCUUC since 2016. She administers our Religious Education for Children and Youth (RECY) program, managing our volunteer teachers, paid caregiving staff, Sunday morning curricula, and special programs and events throughout the year. She is especially passionate about helping families find their place at the heart of the OCUUC community. Karen joined OCUUC in 2009 and volunteered in many capacities, including coordinating the young adult program, serving on the board, facilitating covenant groups, and singing in the choir.
Karen has worked with children and youth for her entire professional life. She previously served as OCUUC’s Acting Director of Religious Education and Interim Director of Religious Education at Tapestry, a Unitarian Universalist Community. She received her BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Pomona College and studied Early Childhood Education at the graduate level at Cal State Fullerton. She lives in Santa Ana with her husband, Jonathan, and their rescue pup, Cho.
