Challenging Injustice, Advancing Human Rights

The Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) is a human rights organization powered by grassroots collaboration. In more than a dozen countries throughout the world, UUSC fosters social justice and works toward a world free from oppression. UUSC’s innovative approaches and measurable impact are grounded in the moral belief that all people have inherent power, dignity, and rights.

Mission: UUSC advances human rights and social justice around the world, partnering with those who confront unjust power structures and mobilizing to challenge oppressive policies.

Vision: UUSC envisions a world free from oppression and injustice, where all can realize their full human rights.

In order to create a world free from injustice and oppression — where all can realize their human rights — you need a movement. And to build a movement, you need passionate people. That’s why UUSC actively engages its more than 40,000 members and supporters by educating them on the issues so they can take informed action, whether it’s calling their senators, signing petitions to corporations or government agencies, or educating their communities and congregations at critical junctures for maximum impact. For over 20 years, UUSC has relied on a robust direct mail program not only to generate income but also to educate and mobilize its members and activists in action campaigns, thereby advancing its mission to promote economic and environmental justice and protect rights at risk. As a result, in accordance with the Financial Accounting Standards Board guidelines, UUSC allocates a portion of its direct mail costs to program services and to fundraising.

Participate in UUSC through the Guest at Your Table Program

Each December, OCUUC works with UUSC through the Guest at Your Table Program.  By bringing home a Guest at Your Table box, families and individuals learn about how the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee puts our shared values into action in the United States and around the world.

UUSC connects with people throughout the world who have shared their personal struggles and are working hard for human rights in partnership with UUSC. In each household, the Guest at Your Table box is placed in a prominent spot, often at the family dinner table. When family and friends gather to enjoy their blessings, they can reflect on the contributions of their “guests” to the movement for universal human rights and share generously.

Sharing our blessings through Guest at Your Table ensures that UUSC’s human rights work continues. Since UUSC is an independent organization that receives no funding from government or the UUA, your support and membership are vitally important.

If you would prefer not to bring home a box, you can take a donation envelope or support UUSC directly online. Boxes will be distributed in early December and collected in early January.
