Getting 42 or more people at OCUUC to commit, for a period of 42 days leading up to the 42nd Earth Day, to taking action of their choice with respect to food ethics.
The actions people choose may involve their own eating patterns–or may involve volunteering in a food related organization, doing something regarding food justice or farm worker rights, doing something about depletion of fish stocks, etc.
If you would like to participate in the Food Ethics Action Program, you can sign up at church or on Facebook. For more information contact Maureen McConaghy (42

Earth Day 2012 – the 42nd Anniversary
Mobilize the Earth™
This Earth Day we are mobilizing the planet simply to say one thing: the Earth won’t wait. It seems that environmental issues have been put on the back burner as we are in the midst of a global recession. Yet, the problems that the Earth faces will not subside simply because we choose to ignore them. We continue to constantly pump CO2 into the atmosphere as climate change continues unabated. Our rivers, streams, lakes and oceans remain polluted along with our air. Nowadays, it seems all too often that we hear of another oil spill or pipeline break or another mountain leveled to mine for dirty coal. It’s time that we Mobilize the Earth™ and speak with one voice, one message. We are tired of the lip service paid to the concerns of everyday people. It’s time our leaders put us on the path to sustainability and address our economic future by taking the green economy seriously.Earth Day Worldwide
Earth Day 2012 is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever. The 42nd Anniversary of Earth Day will focus on building the environmental movement and engaging new environmental activists around the globe. By facilitating relationships with new communities Earth Day Network will bring together an unprecedented amount of individuals and organizations alike to celebrate the environment on April 22nd.A Billion Acts of Green®
Earth Day Network will continue to work to achieve our goal of registering one billion Acts of Green before Rio+20 in June 2012. By working with individuals and groups from all backgrounds, Earth Day Network will expand on the world’s largest environmental service project to date. Already millions of people around the world are working to save the environment. Earth Day Network hopes to bring all these people together under A Billion Acts of Green® to share one common voice.United Nation Conferences
Every year civil society leaders utilize the United Nations Global Conferences to voice their concerns about the environment. By participating in COP-17 in Durban we will connect with environmental organizations from all over the world to fight for global policy on climate change. At Rio+20 in Brazil we will celebrate the efforts of the international community working towards environmental awareness and urge political leaders to implement standards to ensure sustainable development.
