Beginning of a New Year

Beginning of a New Year

“and now we welcome the new year. Full of things that have never been.” ~ Rainier Maria Rilke

I love this time of year. It’s the beginning of a new year and I have a lot of hope for it. Ralph Waldo Emerson said “Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year.” With respect to Emerson, I think of it this way “Write it on your heart that every day is the first day of the year.” When I’m at my best, I’m approaching life as one full of possibilities. This time of year brings that out in me – new beginnings, new possibilities, new chapters and all full of things yet to happen. How exciting!

I know too that there will be bumps and mistakes in the year. This usually just means I’m learning, growing and becoming. But those bumps aren’t always enjoyable. So every time I hit a bump, I try to remember that it is also the first day of the year right then and there. And then the bumps don’t look so big and scary.

So what do you write on your heart this year? What possibilities await you?

May your new year bring you joy and happiness (with only minor bumps in the road)!
