Peace like a River

Peace like a River

I’ve got peace like a river,
I’ve got peace like a river,
I’ve got peace like a river in my soul.

Traditional American Song [and a Unitarian Universalist favorite!]

As our country reels from another domestic shooting this month, I am very grateful that our children and youth have a faith community where peaceful solutions to personal and societal problems can be discussed and modeled. Resolving differences thoughtfully and peacefully is not always a quick or easy thing to do; it can take some time. Our RE curricula allow our children and youth, and adult volunteers, to think about our Seven Principles each week together, reflect on stories and life situations, and then create something that expresses those Principles. From the simple crafts of our  preschoolers to the credo statements of our youth, I love seeing and hearing how our young people express our Principles in their own unique ways.

Preparing our children to become compassionate adults, does indeed 'take a village.'

I am very grateful to the parents, guardians, teachers and our OCUUC community for providing support to our children and youth through the OCUUC RE program. Be assured, we make a difference in their lives.

In Our UU Faith~
