Agenda Amendment for April 29 Congregational Meeting

Last October the Board determined that as part of its work in the Interim Year, it needed to review the OCUUC By-Laws.  To that end, a subcommittee was formed (Nancy Loughrey, Amy Tompkins, Katherine Martin, Christine Hernandez), which worked with Board President Mary Lundholm and Rev. Ed Brock.  Our primary focus was to review the OCUUC By-Laws in order to bring them more in line with UUA By-Laws recommendations and accepted best practices of other UU Congregations.  We believe that we have accomplished this, and that the changes that are being proposed will also help OCUUC function more effectively as we move forward in the coming years with new settled ministry.

The revisions (on our website in the Member Area) are a product of months of research and conversation.  Ultimately, this is a matter for the congregation to discuss and approve, and because of the scope of this endeavor, the Board has decided to bring the revisions to the congregation to discuss and vote upon over a span of three (3) Congregational Meetings.

This is why you are being notified that the Agenda for the Congregational Meeting on April 29 includes the the Proposed By-Law Revisions.

Please feel free to call or e-mail Mary Lundholm  (presidentatocuucdotorg)  , any Board member, or Rev. Ed Brock  (ministeratocuucdotorg)   if you would like to discuss the proposed changes.   As always, we invite your thoughts and comments.

If time permits following the Congregational Meeting on April 22nd, we will have an informal presentation of the proposed revisions. There will be hard copies available that day for those who can not access them on-line.
