Building Your Own Theology
Small groups of UUs engage in a systematic, disciplined and communal process to build individual credos, or statements of individual beliefs. Courses are held throughout the year.
Everyone is welcome, including repeat “students”! This curriculum discusses all the important questions of religion from a UU perspective, allowing each student to come to their own understanding of what makes sense and works. It’s a wonderful way to get to know other OCUUC’ers and to begin to explore your own faith. “Graduates” are eligible to participate in a “This I Believe” service if they wish [it’s not required, but lots of people enjoy doing it].
There are no classes on the schedule at this time.
Goals for Participants
- To determine their values and beliefs about God or ultimate reality, human nature, ethics, and the meaning and purpose of life
- To discover what other UUs believe about the great religious questions
- To articulate their beliefs in credo statements
- To meet the challenge of building their own theology.
OCUUC uses the “Building Your Own Theology” series available from the UUA bookstore by Richard S. Gilbert. You may purchase copies through the UUA Bookstore website by clicking on the book.
